The Pythagorean System
Our calculator uses the Pythagorean numerology system, attributed to the ancient Greek mathematician and philosopher Pythagoras (570–495 BCE). This system assigns numbers 1 through 9 to the letters of the alphabet in sequential order:

Three-Step Reduction Method
For the Life Path Number, we use the widely accepted three-step reduction method: month, day, and year are each reduced independently before being summed and reduced again. This preserves the integrity of Master Numbers (11, 22, 33) that may appear at any step of the process.
Master Numbers
Master Numbers — 11, 22, and 33 — are never reduced to a single digit. They represent intensified energy with greater potential and greater challenge. Our calculator correctly identifies and preserves these numbers at every stage of calculation, from individual name parts to the final result.
The Five Core Numbers
- Life Path Number:Derived from your complete date of birth, it reveals your life's purpose and the path you are meant to walk.
- Expression Number: Calculated from all the letters in your full birth name, it reflects your natural abilities and life goals.
- Soul Urge Number: Based on the vowels in your name, it uncovers your deepest inner desires and motivations.
- Personality Number: Derived from the consonants in your name, it shows how others perceive you and the image you project.
- Birthday Number: Simply your birth day reduced to its essence, it highlights a special talent or gift you carry.
